“To worship is to quicken the conscience by the holiness of God, to feed the mind with the truth of God, to purge the imagination by the beauty of God. To open the heart to the love of God, to devote the will to the purpose of God.”
— William Temple 1881-1944

Description:

Our views of “spirituality” are often comfortably vague, disconnected from everyday living. Yet scripture calls us in the opposite direction, toward an earthy spirituality, rich in folk wisdom, that comes from God. All scripture really has this quality, but one genre of Scripture is the most folksy: Wisdom Literature; and of that, Proverbs is the most earthy, and a great corrective to our tendency toward vague and wispy ‘spirituality.’
